Recent Reviews

Prinz von Hessen Riesling H 2009 Rheingau, Germany

11.5% alcohol. Tight, pure, fresh and limey with a lovely pithy character. Crisp and precise, with notes of lime and minerals, as well as a hint of fruit sweetness. Fresh and transparent, with lovely purity. (89 points, Jamie Goode, WineAnorak.com, 2011-04-22; £12.50 Bibendum Wine, independent merchants)

Chateau Langoa Barton 2008, St.-Julien, Bordeaux

Another winning 2008 St.-Julien, with the appellation’s telltale beam of black currant, fig and anise wrapped with charcoal and espresso notes. There’s serious grip. Needs some time. Best from 2013 through 2021. 8,330 cases made. (91 points, James Molesworth , WineSpectator.com Daily Picks, 2011-04-25; $39)
